Fight Club

Fight Club is were we meet to love God with all our mind (Matt 22:37)

We read a book a month and then meet to discuss it on a Monday night. The titles range from Christian books to topical secular non-fiction to novels. The books are chosen to inspire, increase knowledge and inform us of alternative worldviews. Importantly they will help us in the great contest of ideas. Attendees should be prepared to share their thoughts on that month's book in light of their own reading and Christian worldview. For our two Auckland venues please contact us via email.

November 2013: John Dyer, From the Garden to the City: The Redeeming and Corrupting Power of Technology. Dyer examines technology through the lens of scripture. He challenges us to live faithfully in this technology-saturated world.

September 2013: Laura Hillenbrand, Unbroken: A World War II Story of Survival. An amazing true story that beggers belief.

August 2013: Peter Lineham, Destiny: The Life and Times of a Self-Made Apostle. While Destiny began in 1998, it was in 2004 that the church rose to notoriety with its 'Enough is Enough' march against what it deemed society's deteriorating moral standards. It has evolved to be a significant - if controversial - presence in New Zealand's religious, political and Maori worlds.

June 2013: Orson Scott Card, Ender's Game. This is science fiction at its best. This New York Times' best seller charts the rise of Ender Wiggin a genius bred to defend earth from alien attack.

May 2013: Tim Keller, Every Good Endeavor: Connecting Your Work to God's Work.  Keller argues that the Christian view of work—that we work to serve others, not ourselves—can provide the foundation of a thriving professional and balanced personal life.

April 2013: I don't Have Enough Faith to be an Atheist, by the Norman Giesler. This is an excellent apologetic text written by one of the best in the field.

March 2013: Ben Carson's Gifted Hands, is the story of how a poor inner-city kid from a single parent family became a renowned neurosurgeon at Johns Hopkins Medical Institutions.

C. S. Lewis: 'If all the world were Christian, it might not matter if all the world were uneducated. but to be ignorant now, not to be able to meet our opponents on their own ground, would be to throw down our weapons.'

Adolf Hitler: 'What luck for rulers, that men do not think.'
